The Embodied CEO
It’s time for female solopreneurs to fully step into their power and not just demand a seat at someone else’s table, but set up their own. You’re not here to play it small, you’re not here to fit into a box, and you’re not here to hustle your way to a business that’s fundamentally unaligned with how you function as a human. My idea of business leadership is rooted in freedom of time, money, and choices. Let’s make that our new norm, and let’s have a damn good time doing it. S1 Ep 17: The Real Truth of Self-Leadership
Tuesday Dec 06, 2022
Tuesday Dec 06, 2022
A common block for women is that they are waiting for acknowledgement or guidance to move forward with an idea, a plan, a project, a business. We see this a lot in the dietitian space. The truth is that the most important permission that you need to do anything in your life is from yourself.
In today’s episode, we’re talking about self-leadership—what it means, why it’s important to embrace and take action on it, and how to be flexible through the ups and downs of the journey.
You have to first define what success means to you, and then go for it. Don’t let others’ opinions deter you from the life you want. Take responsibility for your actions, engage in supportive communities, and constantly push yourself towards your goals. Self-leadership will get you where you want to go.
What’s in this episode:
[02:15] How self-leadership presents itself for women and dietitians and how you have to continue challenging and upleveling yourself
[06:46] Understanding what success means for you and not letting guilt and shame derail you
[12:14] How leaning into self-leadership, while sometimes uncomfortable, ultimately provides fulfillment for you, outside of family or other personal responsibilities
[16:49] The importance of taking responsibility for your actions and how relying too much on others presents a false sense of security
[22:24] How the self-leadership journey is a learning experience and it’s helpful to be open and willing to how it unfolds

S1 Ep 16: RD Business Struggles Are International, with Katharina Kuehtreiber
Tuesday Nov 15, 2022
Tuesday Nov 15, 2022
As it turns, dietitians experience a lot of similarities across the globe. Pushback from governing bodies, hoops to jump through to prove your experience and your worth, and if you have any ideas that are forward-thinking and progressive, it can be difficult to get them out into the world.
In today’s episode, we’re chatting with Katharina Kühtreiber, a dietitian in Austria who focuses on an anti-diet, weight inclusive, female-focused approach to dietetics. She’s sharing the differences and similarities between dietetics in the US and Europe as well as how she is breaking barriers taking a more progressive approach with her business and her offerings.
Dietitians have such an opportunity to push for more—more respect, more money, more focus on what really matters to people when it comes to their health. Changing the game can happen if we come together and do the work to speak up and out.
What’s in this episode:
[01:25] How Kirsten first connected with Kat
[09:26] How other dietitians react to Kat’s more progressive approach to her business and what has changed for Kat to really step into her power, value, and worth
[12:59] How Europe has a similar governing body with restrictive rules and mindset
[19:23] How Kat worked with Kirsten on giving herself permission to step into her power and how mindset shifts and authenticity bring the right opportunities your way
[30:06] What Kat thinks dietitians in Austria need to do to move the profession forward

S1 Ep 14: The Secret Sauce to Your Brand Is You
Tuesday Oct 18, 2022
Tuesday Oct 18, 2022
How you show up in your business extends to your branding, your marketing, your messaging. When you don’t show up as yourself, it’s going to be difficult to feel aligned with your work and build a business that you love.
In today’s episode, we’re talking about how important it is to show up authentically—just as you are. Don’t worry about the followers you will lose, and focus instead on the clarity and perfect clients that you will gain.
You won’t struggle with what to create, what to offer, or what to sell if you’re doing the things you love and being yourself and putting your authentic self out there.
What’s in this episode:
[04:44] What can happen to your following when you show up authentically and how it feels when people don’t understand who you are or what you’re about
[11:20] Why it’s important to be unapologetically yourself and how you can learn from others who have triggered you in the past
[15:02] Why you should say what you want to say without overthinking it or “crafting” a message and how to bring humanity back into your brand

S1 Ep 10: You’ve Already Earned Your Stripes
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
You’ve probably heard it before: “You have to spend five years in clinical before you branch out.” We’ve heard it a thousand times, and honestly, we think it’s BS! The idea that Registered Dietitians have to “do their time” between school and their desired career is an outdated, confidence-killing cliche, and we want to see it dismantled.
In this episode, we talk about the expectation for RDs to “earn their stripes” before pursuing their desired careers. We explain how that expectation hurts the nutrition and wellness industry as a whole, and how it holds RDs back from reaching their full potential. We also share our own experiences and how we built our confidence at the beginning of our careers.
What’s in this episode:
Our experience with the expectation that RDs have to “earn their stripes” in clinical [1:13]
How this pressure placed on RDs impacts the nutrition and wellness world as a whole [3:39]
Why we believe the “RD” behind your name is more than enough to qualify you for work outside of a hospital [6:38]
How to develop your confidence in your skills no matter your specialty [11:27]
The value of mentors and community throughout your career [17:04]
Making shifts in your career, and why it doesn’t mean you have to start over [20:15]

Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
Ask any Registered Dietitian, and chances are they know a handful of peers who’ve left the profession. Maybe it was the low pay, the long hours, or even the lack of respect we receive in the medical world. In this episode, we talk about the many reasons RDs leave the profession and our own experiences watching peers change careers. We explain the role education plays in building and tearing down future RDs. We also share our advice for anyone feeling discouraged or tempted to leave the profession. (Spoiler alert: We’ve been there, too.)

Our own peers who’ve left the profession in the past few years [1:01]
What we expected the RD field to be like versus what it actually is [2:57]
How traditional RD education teaches us to stay small, and how to break out of that mold [6:08]

Our advice for anyone feeling disheartened by the profession [17:15]
